Buying and Gardening with Native Plants

Many plants native to the High Desert and the arid Southwest have beautiful flowers, graceful habits or striking forms. Not all of them take well to cultivation, but here are some that work well for local gardeners--surviving harsh summers and winters, thriving in alkaline soils and needing relatively little water.
